For What it’s Worth…

Dear friend,

For what it’s worth, I love you.

For what it’s worth, I will always be your friend. You and I have been friends for years and we’ve been through a ton of junk together, grown together, laughed until we cried… together. I don’t take that lightly. I’ve been criticized often for being too willing to pour into people who don’t or can’t reciprocate, but in my opinion, that’s what being friend’s all about. Because there was a time when that’s what you did for me.

For what it’s worth, I understand. So many people will tell you that they understand what you’re going through, and the truth is, they really don’t. And, I won’t stand here and tell you that I’ve been through everything that you have, but I have and do feel that helplessness, the insecurity, and the feeling that I bring nothing to a friendship.

For what it’s worth, you frustrate me. Didn’t see that one coming did you? Well, let me explain. When I see you, I see a person who has so much potential for so many things. I see a girl who is extremely passionate and willing to fight for the things that matter to her. I see a girl who is compassionate and loves to pour into girls who are younger than her. I see a girl who’s got a story to tell to the world, and an amazing way of telling it. And yet, I also see the struggles. I see the pain and hurt that you go through. I see the choices that you make that create all kinds of heartache and mess in your life. And I wish there was a way to cut out that part of your life, so that you could see the gorgeous and precious person that Christ has created in you.

For what it’s worth, I will always be here for you. I know that you are at a point in your life, where you’ve made it clear that you don’t want to keep in touch. I get that. I’m not going to insert myself in your life. But if there’s ever a time when you just want to talk, or go for a walk, or have someone to hold your hand in the movie theatre as we watch Despicable Me, I’m here. I will never turn my back on you.

For what it’s worth, I believe in you. I want you to know that I am storming the gates of heaven in prayer on your behalf, because I believe in the things that you can and will do. I believe that you are the type of person who is and will make a difference in her world. I believe in YOU.

For what it’s worth, I pray for you. Because I live in a different country and I can’t be there with you, and I can’t fix your situation, and I’m not superwoman, I’m doing the one and only thing that I know is going to make a difference, and I believe that my God is huge and He’s so incredibly proud of his creation in you, and wants to be a part of your everyday life. He wants to be your best friend, father, savior, and redeemer if you’ll let Him.

For what it’s worth, I love you.

love, from someone in Canada who cares,

Anna
